Chester FC and Chester FC Communuty Trust are looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic Ball Crew Coordinator to oversee the club’s volunteer ball crew on first-team matchdays.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for football who wants to play an important role in ensuring National League fixtures run smoothly while helping to develop and support our young ball assistants.
Working alongside the club’s matchday operatins team, the Ball Crew Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting, organising and supervising the ball crew, ensuring they carry out their duties professionally and in line with National League regulations.
About the Role
The Ball Crew Coordinator will attend Chester FC first-team home fixtures at the Deva Stadium and be responsible for managing the volunteer ball crew before, during and after each match.
The successful volunteer will ensure that footballs are retrieved promptly whenever they leave the field of play and that the National League multi-ball system is maintained throughout the game, ensuring replacement balls are always available to players to keep play flowing efficiently.
Away from matchdays, the role will include recruiting new ball assistants, organising matchday rotas, communicating with volunteers and parents or carers, and helping to create a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
The coordinator will also organise refreshments for the ball crew during half-time and provide ongoing guidance and support to ensure all volunteers understand their responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate the ball crew at all Chester FC first-team home fixtures.
• Ensure ball assistants carry out their duties safely, professionally and effectively.
• Maintain the National League multi-ball system throughout each fixture.
• Ensure footballs are returned into play promptly to minimise delays.
• Recruit new volunteer ball assistants throughout the season.
• Prepare and manage matchday rotas.
• Brief volunteers before matches and provide ongoing support and feedback.
• Organise half-time refreshments for the ball crew.
• Liaise with club staff regarding any matchday operational requirements.
• Help provide a safe, enjoyable and rewarding volunteering experience.

Previous experience of volunteering, coaching or working with children or young people would be beneficial but is not essential.
Training and Support
The successful volunteer will receive:
• Full induction and ongoing training.
• Chester FC uniform.
• Support from the club’s matchday operations team.
• The opportunity to play an important role on matchdays and contribute to the success of Chester FC.
As this role involves working with children and young people, the successful applicant will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which will be arranged by the club.
