History made as women’s walking football team make debut

February 17, 2025 Jim Green

Chester FC’s new Women’s Walking Football team took to the pitch for the first time at the weekend!

Formed following the success of the Community Trust’s weekly sessions, the history-making squad travelled to Northwich to take part in a tournament at Cheshire FA’s headquarters at Moss Farm.

Facing teams from Stockport County, 1874 Northwich and Nantwich, the Seals performed fantastically well in their first outing, with all players enjoying themselves and already looking forward to the next event.

Walking football is a fun, social version of the game, played at a slower pace with no running and minimal contact, making it ideal for older players, as well as those who want to return to the game or looking to play for the first time.

Our women’s sessions currently take place on Thursdays from 7pm to 8pm at Goals Soccer Centre and new players of all ages and experience levels are always welcome.
