Forces Football coming to Chester

November 16, 2021 Jim Green

Chester FC Community Trust is readying to launch a new football project for Armed Forces veterans and serving personnel.

Forces Football will give former and current service personnel the opportunity play football and meet up with fellow members of the Armed Forces community, helping them keep active, improve their health and wellbeing, and reducing the risk of social isolation.

There will also be opportunities to represent Chester FC against other clubs from across the region in fixtures and competitions, with a growing number of teams now in operation, including Blackpool, Burnley, Manchester City, Rochdale, Preston North End and Wigan Athletic.

The project will be based at the King George V Community Sports Hub in Blacon, which is due for completion in January 2022.

The Community Trust is now keen to hear from individuals or groups who would be interested in being part of this project and invites them to email community@chesterfc.com or contact 07512 355396.

It is hoped further community Armed Forces projects to support service personnel, veterans and their families can follow, such as regular coffee mornings, tickets for Chester FC fixtures, football-themed days out, health workshops and volunteering or employment opportunities, including assistance gaining FA coaching qualifications.
