The Chester FC Football Education Programme is holding an assessment trial for prospective players interested in joining our elite development pathway for 2025/26 or 2026/27.
Open to current Year 10 and Year 11 students only, the assessment trial takes place on Monday 14th April from 2pm to 4pm at King George V Community Sports Hub.
Attendees will have the chance to showcase their talent in a series of 11v11 matches under the guidance of our coaching team, who will be looking for high level players with the potential to succeed as part of our Under 19s scholars, who play in the National League U19 Alliance, North West Youth Alliance and FA Youth Cup. Successful players will be invited for further assessment alongside trialists from Premier League and EFL academies.

Whether you have recently applied, attended a previous event or already had an interview and received an offer, this is an opportunity for those players who feel they have what it takes to join our successful full-time scholarship programme powered by Access Sport, with a proven pathway to the Chester FC first team.
If you already have an offer for the coaching and sport development pathway, but are interested in the elite development pathway, you are welcome to attend this event and it will not impact your existing conditional offer. Likewise, if you attend but are not selected for further assessment, you may be able to take up a place for coaching and sport development for September 2025 or 2026.
The Chester FC Football Education Programme is aimed at young people aged 16-18 who want to turn their passion for sport into a career, allowing them to continue their academic studies alongside an elite football or sports coaching and development pathway in a professional, full-time environment.
Delivered in partnership with Access Sport, the two-year course see students work towards a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports Development & Coaching qualification, equivalent to three A-Levels, that is combined with the student’s chosen pathway:
Elite Football Development: Our elite students undertake a full-time training and games programme, representing Chester FC in the National League Alliance, North West Youth Alliance and FA Youth Cup. With the goal of preparing them for first-team football, students are supported to develop technically/tactically, physically, socially and psychologically, through the use of Individual Development Plans (IDPs) and the latest performance technology, including Veo cameras, PlayerTek GPS vests and Sport Session Planner.
Sports Development & Coaching: For those aspiring to be coaches, analysts and sports scientists , our coaching and development pathway provides each student with an individual learning plan geared towards their chosen career in sport, which blends theory, practical sessions, industry qualifications, hands on access to the latest technology, and work experience with the Chester FC Community Trust team.

With modern facilities, a fantastic team of tutors and coaches, and the opportunity to study within a real football business, students will be supported through professional development, work experience, coaching placements, and FA qualifications, to help equip them with the skills, knowledge and experience to progress into professional football, university, USA scholarships, apprenticeships or employment.
