Blacon Youth Hub awarded funding from Million Hours Fund

Chester FC Community Trust is delighted to have been awarded a grant from the Million Hours Fund for Blacon Youth Hub.

Having launched earlier this month, Blacon Youth Hub is a new Friday evening youth club for young people aged 7-17 in Blacon, based at King George V Community Sports Hub.

This funding will support the youth club for the next two years, with the aim of establishing a permanent provision in the future.

The Million Hours Fund is a £22 million jointly funded initiative from the Department for Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) and The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest community funder in the UK. The programme funds organisations to provide positive activities for young people in areas with high levels of anti-social behaviour.

Jim Green, CEO of Chester FC Community Trust, said: “This is great news and will ensure young people in Blacon have a safe place to go on Friday evenings for the next two years.

“There’s lots of good work being done in Blacon at the moment to provide more opportunities for young people and we hope to work in partnership with the council and other stakeholders to help develop a permanent youth club in the future.”

Blacon Youth Hub aims to offer a safe, inclusive space for young people to meet up with friends and have the chance to take part in activities, including sport, music, arts, movies, gaming and more.

There will be two sessions each week with junior sessions for ages 7-11 at 5.30pm-7pm and senior sessions for ages 12-17 from 7.30pm-9pm. Please note sessions will operate on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to a maximum capacity.

All young people who wish to attend Blacon Youth Hub are required to become members. It is free to sign up through completing a short online form.
