Month: August 2020

Please note Chester FC Mini Kickers sessions are unable to resume at present due to the sports hall at the Northgate Arena being unavailable for team sport bookings.

Although there is no timeframe for when sessions may restart, Chester FC Community Trust is in regular contact with the Northgate Arena and will provide further updates in due course to registered parents and guardians.

We are keen to resume Mini Kickers sessions as soon as we can do so safely and are exploring whether alternative venues may be available in the interim.

Chester FC Mini Kickers allows young children to learn and develop their footballing skills in a fun environment. The sessions are open to children in Reception, Years 1 and 2.

Chester FC Walking Football returns this week with sessions now held on Wednesdays at Goals Soccer Centre.

Following current Government and FA guidelines, Chester FC Community Trust is excited to resume its weekly sessions and welcomes new players.

Walking football is a slower paced version of the game, offering a great way to exercise, meet new people and continue or return to playing the sport.

Sessions will take place every Wednesday from 5pm to 6pm at Goals Soccer Centre off Bumpers Lane. The change of venue follows confirmation from Blacon High School that, following advice, it will not be a position to hire out the 3G pitch until October half-term at the earliest.

The price to attend is £4 per week but for new players the first session is free so it costs nothing to give it a go.

All ages and abilities are welcome but players must register in advance here.

For more information contact 07512 355396 or email community@chesterfc.com.

Chester FC Community Trust is committed to ensuring the health and wellbeing of everyone who attends our sessions.

All activities will be planned and delivered in line with the latest Government and FA guidance with additional measures and procedures in place for your safety. This includes collecting and storing the names and contact information of participants for NHS Test and Trace purposes.

Chester FC Community Trust can provide an update on the Girls Player Development Centre (PDC) programme for the 2020/21 season.

The programme venue Blacon High School has advised that, following advice, it will not be a position to hire out the 3G pitch until October half-term at the earliest. The school will review the situation in October and provide a further update.

Please note the Girls PDC will not be able to commence until the venue has reopened.

The Covid-19 pandemic is a challenging situation for sports facilities and the health and safety of participants must be the key consideration.

We look forward to resuming sessions as soon as it is safe to do so and will continue to provide regular updates.

Although dates cannot be confirmed at present, we are inviting expressions of interest for players in U8s, U10s, U12s, U14s & U16s age groups.

Please complete an expression of interest form here or email community@chesterfc.com for more information.

The PDC aims to support the development of female players aged 6-16 and offers an advanced training programme with professional coaches in a positive environent.

Players selected for the PDC continue to train and play for the grassroots club while taking part in a coaching programme based on The FA four corner player development model.

Designed to bridge the gap between grassroots football and elite football, the PDC provides a pathway to the Chester FC Women teams or FA Regional Talent Club (RTC) programme for players of exceptional ability.

In recent seasons, more than 20 players have progressed into the Under-18s and first team squads while no fewer than 26 players have signed with an RTC.

Level 2 Community Activator Coach

The closing date for applications is 30th September 2020.

Chester FC Community Trust has deferred the start of the Chester FC Football Education Programme to September 2021.

The coronavirus pandemic has posed a number of significant challenges to the education scheme and the board of trustees and our education partners SCL have therefore agreed to postpone the start of the programme for 12 months.

Due to Covid-19 and the lockdown restrictions, it has not been possible to organise taster sessions, recruitment events and trials for potential students while social distancing means the football development element of the scheme is unclear in terms of providing safe training and matches, the status of competitions, access to facilities and oppportunities to gain practical coaching experience.

The trustees felt that given these challenges, the uncertain landscape and the Community Trust’s commitment to providing an outstanding experience for students both in and out of the classroom, the best course of action was to defer the start the programme until September 2021.

Jim Green, Community Trust CEO, said: “While we are disappointed the programme will not be able to launch as planned, we believe it is the right decision given the unprecedented times in which we find ourselves.

“We want to ensure students have the best experience possible to enable them to realise their potential and we don’t believe this will be possible given the huge uncertainty around key elements of the programme.

“Together with SCL, we will support those young people who have applied for the programme, either through offering them a place for September 2021 or helping them find an alternative course.

“Our focus now is to ensure everything is in place for the 2021/22 academic year by which time we expect the new King George V Sports Hub to be completed with teaching and sporting facilities on a fantastic new site.”

The Chester FC Football Education Programme is a two-year full-time course for 16-18-year-olds who want to turn their passion for sport into a career.

Students will gain a NCFE Diploma in Sport alongside a football development programme offering them daily training, competitive fixtures and the chance to complete FA coaching qualifications.

The course will compliment the club’s current academy scholarship programme and is aimed at young people with desire to pursue a career in sport or progress to university and will equip them with the skills, knowledge and experience to move into employment or further study.

Combining classroom and digital learning with high quality coaching, competitive football and guidance on fitness and nutrition, the innovative programme will help the students reach their full potential on and off the pitch.
